about

A collection of tracks from the second half of 2020. A mixture of sequence driven and dark ambient tracks.

* Open Loop - Let's start things off a little loopy

* Swamp Thing - This started as a polyrhythmic sequence exercise and took a left turn into the jungle.

* Resonance - Steve Reich meets Philip Glass meets Vangelis.

* Chaos Theory - Polyrhythms gone amok. Twelve overlapping sequences in 6, 9, 16, 18, 24, and 28.

* Luminescence - An exercise in pure additive synthesis that turned into something almost orchestral.

* Depth of Field - Inspired by a great drone instrument from Pianobook and adds mens choir, and reversed electric piano.

* Primordial - Something lurking in the jungle

* Laminar - An exercise in the use of modulated shimmer reverb

* Diffusion - more shimmer

* Ejecta - journey through the belt

* Free Fall - Floating back to the seventies...

Chinenual is Steve Tynor. He's a software engineer who dabbles in composition and sound synthesis, but can't quite figure out what genres he works in. In fact he's not really sure what many of the genre titles mean -- ambient? post-ambient? retro-electronica? chilly-tribal? acid-ambient? space music? Doing his best to fuse the right and left sides of his brain and make music. ... more
